Frequently asked questions

From what exists on the site today, to who we are, to what we’re proposing, read through a list of questions we commonly get asked about the project.

The planning & consultation processes

When did you submit your application to the city of Toronto?

We submitted our planning application to the City in November 2021.

Has your application been approved?

We are still very early in the process and consulting with City Staff, the local Councillor, neighbourhood groups, and the broader community. At this point in time, no decision has been made by City Council on this project.

How can i get involved?

This website is a resource to stay involved and participate in the process. It’s a place where you can reach out, ask questions, and provide feedback to our team at any point in time.

As the application progresses through the process, there will be additional opportunities to get involved. Check back on our Timeline page for the latest updates.

The current site

What exists on the site today?

The site is presently occupied by a series of two to four storey mixed-used buildings with retail on the ground level and residential units above.

With this redevelopment, what will happen to the current buildings on site?

If the application is approved, the current buildings on site would eventually be demolished in order to build the new building.

Are the existing buildings designated heritage?

No, none of the properties on site are listed on the Toronto Heritage Register or designated under the Ontario Heritage Act.

The Proposal

What is the developer proposing to build?

Woodcliffe’s proposal is for a new 14-storey residential building:

  • 201 m2 of new street-level retail space along Yonge Street
  • 67 residential units (over 75% of which will be 2 and 3-bedroom units)
What kind of retail are you proposing in the building?

We are still early in the process and shaping the built form of the building. Our intention is to maintain the fine-grained retail character of the neighbourhood by providing small-scale retail spaces that animate the public realm along Yonge Street. While it’s too early at this stage to say what retail tenants will occupy the space, we are open to your suggestions on the types of businesses and retail you would like to see here.

What is the proposed unit mix for the building?

A range of unit types will be provided in the new building, to accommodate a mix of household types

  • Bachelor units: 3 (5%)
  • 1-bedroom units: 13 (19%)
  • 2-bedroom units: 41 (61%)
  • 3-bedroom units: 10 (15%)
